Day 8

Day Eight. 366 Project. Picture # 8. "Every Nail is a Story". I have been driving by this telephone pole for a few years now. It is on the corner of West Saint Johns Avenue & Guadalupe Street in Austin, Texas. Starting about three feet off the ground and petering out as high as most people can reach is this amazing collection of fasteners. This pole has become "art" through the collective work of many people and many years of signs being posted. Every nail, staple and screw has a story. Some stories are mundane, for sale, for rent, just common everyday commerce. Others are more poignant, looking for witnesses to accident on such and such date and time. Desperate pleas for information for beloved lost dogs and cats. But there must also be joyful messages that warm the heart. Found cat, found dog ! Happy birthday! Directions to parties maybe even with balloons ! I have been meaning to stop and aim a camera at this scene, but some how it never was a good time to stop. Well today was the day. I got the shot, Some might even say I nailed it ! Canon Rebel XTI hand held. Canon 28-135mm lens. Focal length 53mm. ISO 400. f/4.5. 1/200 second.
