Day 25 X 2

Day Twenty Five. 366 Project. Picture # 25A. "Moving Water". A major winter storm system moved into central Texas last night and Austin received close to five inches of rain. This much rain in such a short period of time caused many of the streams to flash flood and closed many of the low water crossings. This picture is of Bull Creek 8 hours after the rain stopped. Canon Rebel XTI. Canon 18-55mm lens. Focal length 42mm. f/5. ISO 400. Exposure 1/200 second.

Day Twenty Five. 366 Project. Picture 25B. "Still Water". The building reflecting in the flooded commons area is the office and club house for the apartments I live in. I had an errand to run after nightfall as I turned into the apartments I noticed the perfect reflection on the still surface of the water. It was actually quite dark when this picture was taken. It was a long exposure that picked up the ambient light from many different sources. This amount of rain was very important to this state. Texas is in a severe drought and many communities water supplies are drying up. This rain came nowhere close to ending the drought but it did put some water in the lakes and rivers. And it did give people some optimism and hope.Canon Rebel XTI. 28-135mm lens. Focal length 28mm. f/5. ISO 400. Exposure 8 seconds.

  1. Lighting is everything. It gives the wonderful dusk quality to still water and brings out the detail in individual water droplets in moving water. These are gorgeous and a grand way to mark not only day 25 but the momentous occasion of a significant rainfall in central Texas.
