Day Eleven. 366 Project. Picture # 11. "Texericana". Texas ranchers and farmers love "Americana" style art but they add their own touch of Texas spice. Texas flags in a myriad of forms adorn gates and roofs throughout Texas. Art with ranch and western themes are also common. This bit of "Texericana" art is a on a horse barn on Spicewood Springs road. This rural haven is just a stones throw from the fast paced noise and confusion of the 183 & 360 traffic. As I was shooting this picture some one drove into the property. I am guessing the owner. They honked their horn and an animal symphony ensued. Dogs started barking, horses whinnying accompanied by a cow mooing with the calling peacocks carrying the melody. I think I even heard the braying of a donkey. It was a wonderful fun sound for me but it most likely represented the start of a lot of hard work for someone feeding and caring for the animals. From the whimsical art on their barn, it must be a labor of love. Canon Rebel XTI on tripod. Canon 75-300mm zoom. Focal length 140mm. f/5. ISO 400. 1/40 second. Much depth in this picture. I love the tangled web of empty branches that frame the upper part of the photo. Crisp focus from foreground to background. The building is interesting. All the silhouettes looking to the horse and the horse is looking at you! The lighting and the HDR effect pull all the details in this pic. So much to look at!
