Day Twenty. 366 Project. Picture # 20. "Waiting" This colorful sidewalk is in Coupland, Texas. The chairs are facing the railroad which used to be the economic heart of most small rural towns. Looking at the reflection in the window, you can see the railroad is still there but the trains do not stop anymore, The town had a cotton gin which long ago closed down but there are some signs of life. These chairs adorn the sidewalk in front of a still active business called the Ironwood Furniture shop. There are a couple of small eating places and a few tourist shops. The trains may not stop anymore and certainly time waits on no man. But somehow one feels that Coupland stays alive not so much by it's own actions but more like a drifting bottle being steered by the winds and tides. So far the currents of time have kept Coupland moving, but where it is going and for how long no one knows. A co-worker Mark Barnett suggested Coupland as my Day 20 location. Canon Rebel XTI on tripod. Canon 28-135mm lens. Focal length 28mm. f/5.6. ISO 400. Exposure 1/50 second. Any additional questions please contact me at jaybaum23@yahoo.com .
