Day Two Hundred Twenty Four. August 11. Picture # 224A. "Milky Way". The McDonald Observatory is located in the Davis Mountains of Texas, because the skies are so dark. http://www.as.utexas.edu/mcdonald/mcdonald.html . This picture was taken at Davis Mountain State Park. http://www.tpwd.state.tx.us/state-parks/davis-mountains . My friend Dennis Rust had suggested going camping at the park on this weekend because of the Perseid meteor shower. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Perseids We saw a few meteors with one spectacular fireball, but all in all it was pretty slow.
