Day One Seventy Nine. June 27. Picture # 179. "Wet Spring". Yesterday was 106 degrees in Austin, Texas. Today was 104 degrees making it the third day in a row in triple digits. But even as central Texas settles into it's long hot summer, there are still signs of the mild wet spring we had this year. The prickly pears have all set their fruit and the fruit is swollen to the point of bursting with water. Many plants in Texas store water in their fruits and leaves which becomes an important source of food and water for wildlife during the dry months. Canon Rebel XTI, handheld. Canon 75-300mm lens.
